教師節的來歷：
教師被人們稱為“園丁”、“人類靈魂的工程師”，是受到全社會尊重的一種職業。早在1931年5月，教育家邰爽秋、程其保等人就曾建議設立教師節，發表了《教師節宣言》，呈請當時的中央政府批准，並於1931年6月6日在南京中央大學舉行了第一次慶賀教師節的儀式。但當時的教育部沒有批准把這個節日列入學校校歷。儘管這樣，後來許多學校的教師仍於6月6日自動舉行紀念活動。
1939年，當時的'教育部規定以每年的8月27日孔子誕辰紀念日為教師節，並頒佈了《教師節紀念暫行辦法》，但後來未實行。
新中國成立後，1951年經教育部和全國教育工會商定，廢除了6月6日的教師節，而將教師節改在同“五一”國際勞動節一起紀念因無教師特點，實行效果?不理想，後來教師節便銷聲言跡了。
1985年1月21日，第六屆全國人大常委會第九次會議決定，每年9月10日為教師節。
