對於SAT考試的寫作而言，究竟哪種方法才最好呢?我們可以來看幾篇SAT作文範文的開頭。

相比較而言，兩篇文章的共同點是，少去了託福寫作中冗長的背景資訊敘述，而是直接點明自己的觀點。因為SAT考官判卷的時間每篇不超過2分鐘，因此，讓考官一開始就明確你要寫什麼是十分必要的。因此第一句話就敘述自己的主題，是文章寫作的關鍵。
而從第二句起，還是為了讓考官明確我們下文要寫什麼，以便在閱讀下文的時候能夠快速找到我們文章的中心，兩篇文章都對下文的例子進行了概括。兩篇文章的的不同點在於第一句話主題句的敘述方式，第一篇文章直接點明瞭主題，而第二篇文章首先陳述了反方的觀點，之後才敘述自己的'觀點。
那麼有人會問，到底哪一種更好呢?一般而言，對於議論文來講，觀點的客觀性十分重要。因此最好的辦法其實是第二種開頭方式：先敘述反方觀點，之後敘述自己的觀點，顯示客觀性，之後對下文的例子進行總結概括。這就是SAT大體的開頭段寫法。
