Christmas party etiquette:

Office Christmas parties usually take place in early mid December:

Usually at work, you'll have an office Christmas party, but not a New Year's party:

People are not working during the New Year: 大家新年都放假

When it gets closer to Christmas, many people are travelling home, so you need to hold parties earlier:

Hold the party earlier

不是in advance?

Book your tickets in advance

With any party or event invitation, you usually need to RSVP: 派對、活動邀約,通常都需要RSVP

Digital invitation/e-invite:

Mandatory attendance:

Party dress code:

Dress code:

Many parties and events will have a dress code:

1) Casual: 休閒

2) Formal:

Business casual:

Casual:

Jacket/blazer:

Suit:

You usually don't need to wear a tie for business or smart casual:

You need to wear dress shoes:

Leather shoes:

Formal: 正式

Black tie:

Black tie doesn't mean you can only wear ties in black:

Black is the safest, other dark colors are fine:

Black tie means dressed up: black tie

Bow tie:領結

Tuxedo/tux:

Party dresses for the ladies:

LBD (little black dress):

LRD (little red dress):

Cocktail dress/one piece:

Knee length dress:

Floor length dress:

Evening gown:

Christmas colors:

Doesn't have to be red and green:

Choose what you look good in: 選一個你穿著好看的顏色

Balance it out with some white:

The ugly Christmas sweater:

The ugly Christmas sweaters:

They look like a Christmas card:

Very busy, lots of Christmas elements:

The point is to be ugly and funny:

The uglier, the better:

Party gift exchanges:

1) Secret Santa:

2) White Elephant:

What's Secret Santa?

Draw a name, buy them a gift, you're their secret Santa:

What are they like?

What will they like?

The person receiving the gift need to guess who their secret Santa is:

But you can also keep it a secret:

What's White Elephant?

Everyone buys a gift and brings it to the party:

Put all the gifts together:

Each person has a chance to pick or "steal" a gift:

If you go first, you're screwed because someone else can steal it from you:

The important thing is to decide who goes first: 拿禮物的先後順序很重要

Paper rock scissors:

Adam!*

Gift budget:

Gift budget:

20 dollars is a common budget for office or social Christmas parties:

Two main styles of gifts:

由於聖誕派對上送禮有遊戲屬性,所以買禮物第一不用太貴;

Practical: 實用

Prank:

或者像Adam那樣買一袋大米(a huge bag of rice), 合二為一、一舉兩得

Don't party too hard:

Generally speaking, performances are not part of Christmas parties:

The tone of Christmas parties is more warm, friendly, enjoy people's company:

Don't drink too much or party too hard:

New Year's party is more about crazy partying and lots of drinking:

Go to town

Paint the town red

What to say?

Christmas greetings and wishes:

Merry Christmas!

Since not everyone is a Christian:

It's very PC (politically correct):

But it makes some people really angry because they see their religion and culture not being respected:

Say both!

Merry Christmas and happy holidays!
